It seems so strange that we are now nearly in December and rapidly approaching Christmas. Bermuda is heading in to their winter season and there are some days that it is chilly and very windy. We're having a bit of torrential rain also. I know what you're saying back home and yes, I know, you're experiencing really cold weather back home and that you'd rather be here .... I wish you were here with us experiencing this beautiful island ;-)
Everywhere around us Bermuda is getting ready for Christmas. Being an English Colony they didn't go all out for Thanksgiving but they are definitely getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Decorations are going up everywhere and there is lots of Christmas music being played. Still, it does feel weird not being home and enduring that cold frost and this year will be very different not being around friends and family and that we are having to spend it in the Sun!! 😆

...... a quick visit to see what it was like but everything is closed as it is out of season

.... and then a promise of ice cream. This I regretted - Yo Cherry .... two small pots $16!!
Friday 2nd December
Yeah Neil had the afternoon off.
The weather was a little on the chilly and windy side so we decided to get on a bus and go explore. Today was a visit to Spanish Point. It was so windy Eleanor just stood there and cried because she was too cold! So we had a little explore and ran for the bus when it passed half an hour later. It was so beautiful and apparently if we'd have walked a little further we would have found a perfect cove which is secluded. So worth another visit when the suns out.

Saturday 3rd December
So you'll be impressed we were up and out the door at 8am to go and get breakfast. We were determined to catch the 9.18am bus to get to the caves to make the most of Neil's day off.
The Crystal and Fantasy Caves were amazing and it was worth doing the combo ticket and go and visit both of the caves. The pictures will just speak for themselves ...

The water is a mixture of salt and freshwater - it's called Brackish
The very thin straw Stalactites are hollow and the rain water that takes weeks to soak through the ground drips through until eventually the straw blocks and then becomes a thicker formation

Once back at our hotel the children were desperate to try out their flippers ....
It's been a really good week for getting out and about and it was so lovely seeing a bit more of the island. The children and I are really grateful for Neil's days off and we are definitely making the most of it. Fingers crossed we'll get a treasured day off with Neil next weekend :-)
