Week Five - 1 Month

Winter is starting to kick in - Bermuda has a little chilly feel but also a lot of rain forecasted!

But as and when the sun comes out you have to make the most of it.

Tuesday 13th December

Today we jumped on the bus to explore some of the South Shore beaches.  We got off at Horseshoe Bay and walked all the way back up to Warwick Long Bay (by the time we reached this beach the heavens opened!).

Unfortunately, this poor little fellow was no longer with us

Pouring with rain = Time to get the bus home

Wednesday 14th December

The hotel have lots of Christmassy things going on.  This morning we had a children's choir entertain everyone in the hotel reception with some Christmas songs.  They were super cool.

Another rainy day so we made our own fun.  We had a craft afternoon in the cottage for all the children to make Christmas Cards.  They even made paper chains to decorate the dining room area.

Our next entertainment, again courtesy of the hotel reception area, was a full string orchestra. They again played lots of Christmas carols and songs and the talent was incredible.

We had an amazing day ... poor Neil though ... got soaked coming home on the rib :-(

Saturday 17th December

It's my birthday, it's my birthday .... and today was quite literally all about ME!  The ladies in our lovely community looked after me all day and I was thoroughly spoilt :-) Time for Cake & Bubbles and what more could I ask for - lots of sunshine and great company.  It was such a lovely afternoon where all the children played and then had a swim.  A VERY different birthday compared to previous years - NOTHING about my day was to do with Christmas!  I didn't have to wrap presents, do any shopping, write any cards or go to any Christmas Carol Concerts!  My best birthday in years :-)

Even Barbie, Arial and Co had a great day!

Sunday 18th December

Daddy at work and we're having a chill day after all of yesterday's excitement .....

Patrick as normal is on his computer .... which is why Eleanor is looking lost.  But that's the end of Week 5, so signing off for now.

The BASE - Land Rover BAR

When we arrived on the 13th November little did Neil, and all the other guys, realise that they would be thrown in to a construction site environment and before they could do any work they had to get their hands dirty!

I've managed to acquire some photos of when the base was at it's initial stages ....

The first week Neil was helping to install all the lights in the building that was going to house the gym, the kitchen and canteen facilities.  Week two he was installing server cables. Each night all the lads were coming home covered head to toe in dust as it was pretty much all hands to the pump, so to speak!

Through nobody's fault the base was behind schedule (I don't think Hurricane Nicole helped!!) and whilst everyone was waiting for the shipment containers to arrive it was a great way of helping the contractors to get the Base back on schedule and up and running as quickly as possible.  What helped was lots of rum after work, me thinks, that certainly helped with motivation and getting them back up and in to work the next day!

There was a really good vibe amongst the guys and they really all did pull together as a team :-)

Here are some photos of the progression ....
