Week Thirteen

06.02.17

So it's Monday 6th February and today we have all been invited to The Base for the launch of Land Rover BAR's Race Boat.

It's a very exciting day not only for the launch of the boat but also for our school children as they are also playing a big part within the day - they get to perform their school song for everyone (I even think they might be appearing on Facebook Live with Georgie Ainslie).

Just a few glasses of champagne were consumed πŸ˜‰

Lunchtime - Adult only area was upstairs in the Hospitality suite

.... Well it would have been rude not to have joined the adults with my partner in crime,
Kim πŸ’“

Wendy managed to join us for a little glass of bubbles ....

The children prepare to sing their school song to everyone ....

Time to say goodbye as the launch has ended and the guys need to get back to some all important work!!

.... typically it's raining on the way home!

The rain has cleared up and we experienced the most wonderful PINK sunset .... it was really beautiful the way the light reflected on the pool.  A gorgeous end to a great day πŸ’—

As it was Woody's birthday yesterday and he had to incorporate his special day with the launch he had his party today.  It was gorgeous sunny and warm so what better way to celebrate than cake, pinata and swimming.  We even had two little gorgeous party guests that decided they wanted to come in their Snowsuits as it just wasn't warm enough for them πŸ˜‚

So .... we have lots of things to do in the room to stop boredom.  I bought out lots of colouring books, paints, reading books, electronic devices and even some toys.  But sometimes none of that cuts the mustard with Eleanor .... if she get bored she tends to get up to mischief instead.  Today BARBIE got the raw end of the deal!!  Eleanor decided that Barbie needed Tattoos and her hair died ... so with the aid of a permanent Sharpie and Felt tip pens Barbie had a make over ....

One of her other Barbie's had a haircut .... they've now both gone to Barbie heaven!

Last night Neil's Mum, Helen and Auntie Kate arrived and will be with us for 11 days. This is great as it breaks up our 8 months away from home.  They came over to our hotel via the free ferry that shuttles across between the Princess and the Fairmont Hotels.  After a quick cup of tea and show them around our little home we then went to catch the ferry to Dockyard.

Spirit of Bermuda on it's way out for a day trip

The Race boat was being put in the water for the first time after the launch and today was it's first sailing day.  So we all have our fingers crossed for a good sailing day which = happy sailors 😊

It's amazing to watch the procedure that the Shore Team have to follow to get the wing lifted and then secured to the boat.

Then the whole boat is then craned in to the water.  The Shore Team ensure that they still have full control of the boat the whole time that it is being lowered.  Then someone from the team has to lower the Dagger Boards before it is then finally put on the water.  Someone else has to climb up the Wing and release all the guide ropes that are attached to the boat/crane once it is in the water.

After the boat was in the water the Systems Team then had to make sure everything was prepared and ready to sail.  This was going to take a couple of hours so it was time to get Helen and Katie on a bus and get back to our hotel for dinner.

Helen and Katie got a taxi back to their hotel on the other side of the island in Southampton and we saw them off at reception.  The children came as well ... in their pj's!!  Every Friday and Saturday the hotel have a band so the kids wanted to sit and listen for a while ....

12.02.17

Today we are heading out to the South Shore Beaches to show Helen and Katie how beautiful they are. Also, Neil hasn't seen them yet either!!  The problem was we got split up as Helen couldn't walk down the steep incline down to Horseshoe Bay.   Neil took the low road and Katie, Helen and myself took the high road!  So no photos of the beaches as Neil thought he'd lost us and ended up getting Ashley & Kirsty to look for us .... and then he bumped in to Kim and Pete who started to look for us as well.  Eventually Neil and the children found us sitting waiting on Warwick Long Bay .... reunited in the end.

After this afternoons confusion there was nothing for it .... we needed a Swizzle!

Look who found us .... Kim and Pete .....

Oh yes ..... Ashley, Kirsty and Arthur found us too 😍

What a fun afternoonπŸ’• lots of laughs with some great friends and family 😍

Having family visiting has been lots of fun this week and the children have just loved having their Nanni and Katie to cuddle.  I'm now missing the rest of the family sooooo much.  We've now been out here 3 months 😲 and it's going super fast.

Missing everyone
lots of love The Wise Old Owls xxxx
