So heading out of Myrtle Beach and straight on to the interstate to get down to Charleston.

The bridge heading in to Charleston was pretty impressive ....

Our hotel in Charleston - The Ansonborough Inn was a massive surprise .... it was old, quirky, amazing, classy and stunning ....

One of the hallways
The Upstairs Bedroom
The Lounge
The Kitchenette
The Downstairs Bedroom & Dining Room Table
A Staircase ... this was luxury as we haven't had a staircase for 8 months (to be fair the sofa is a luxury as well!)
The Main Breakfast Area
The Bar
Reception - each floor was open plan, as was the staircase so you could see all the way up

Now for dinner at The Noisy Oyster Seafood Restaurant

All the restaurants seem to have roof top bars as well :-)

So the view from our Hotel's roof top bar .....
.... and the sunset 💓🌇

This must be a very old building, or just the front of it and it must be still there for a reason?!?  It's propped up as well ❓😕

Patrick enjoying the roof top bar and the sunset

The Ansborough Inn - would completely and fully recommend this hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The view looking down in to Reception

What an amazing nights stay in The Ansonborough Inn - it felt like being in a home and being a little bit normal.  Sharing two adjoining rooms for 8 months with the kids and now two weeks in the same room has taken it's toll and having them upstairs was just luxury ðŸ˜„

28.06.17

This morning we were going to explore Charleston town .... and it's stunning architecture

..... it advised that you wore sensible shoes as the paths were uneven ðŸ‘Ÿ I have just flip flops!

Waterfront Park
The Fountain
A homeless guy sat in the fountain having a morning shower 😆
The Waterfront Park Pier

The Waterfront Park looking out to sea - lots of marsh

It was great to see these information plaques everywhere giving us a bit of the local history

One of the many pretty side streets

Charleston had a wall that surrounded it originally and this little bit of the wall is part of what used to stand .......
... the line in the car park is the footings for the wall

As we continued on with our walk around the Historic Town we discover typical Charleston buildings - I love them 💖

A full circle and we are back at the Waterfront Park ....
These houses are in a prime location with the most amazing view
The Confederate Flag still being flown with a chap in costume - there was an event going on in the park to commemorate an anniversary

Look more scrummy houses .....

A Lizard found typically in this area

Now these are hanging baskets .... Shame you're not allowed to attach anything to the wall Mum!

These concrete blocks are throughout the town and they are original from the days of when it was just Horse and Cart.  What they did was enabled people to have a step up in to the carriage .....

..... many of them have shapes carved in to them to help with the step up

.... as you can see there are a lot of these blocks and they come in all different shapes and sizes.  The children loved modelling them .... 🙋🙌

One of the many beautiful churches - St Michaels

The Pink House

Pink House is a historic house and art gallery in Charleston, South Carolina and is one of the oldest buildings in South Carolina and is the second oldest residence in Charleston after the Colonel William Rhett House.
The house was built between 1694 and 1712 of pinkish Bermuda stone by John Breton in the city's French Quarter. The date of the building has been the subject of dispute. Two local historians fixed the date as 1712, but a construction date as late as 1745 has been suggested.
The tile gambrel roof dates to the eighteenth century. The building was a tavern in the 1750s. James Gordon was the owner of the house by the 1780s. The artist Alice R. Huger Smith used the house as a studio in the early twentieth century. In the 1930s the house was restored by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Morawetz. Currently, the house features an art gallery.

Before leaving Charleston we popped back in to the hotel to refresh our water bottles and visit the facilities .... Well, what can I say .... the Ladies Restroom was a bit posh ðŸš½
