So after a glorious morning in Charleston it was time to get on the road and head an hour on to Tybee Island before finishing the day in Savannah.
This is Dames Point Bridge .... which heads us in to Georgia and on our way to Tybee Island

Spanish Moss found typically in Savannah
Spanish moss is an epiphytic flowering plant that often grows upon larger trees in tropical and subtropical climates, native to much of Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Central America, South America, the southern United States, and the West Indies as well as being naturalized in Queensland (Australia) known as "grandpas beard" and in French Polynesia. In the United States from where it is most known, it is commonly found on the southern live oak and bald-cypress in the lowlands, swamps, and savannas of the southeastern United States from Texas and Florida north through southern Arkansas.
Since the early 19th century, Savannah planted out trees in its streets and squares to provide shade in the summer and beauty the year round, earning it the title of “The Forest City.” Today, its arching live oaks, swathed with picturesquely gothic drapes of Spanish moss, are one of the city’s most charming and typical sights.

What a day we've had.... Charleston, Tybee Island and then the evening in Savannah.
Savannah was too short but we preferred Charleston as a family. We loved the hotel and I'm not sure how we are going to top that one!
Neil: "Tybee Island was a lovely beach. Didn't get to see a lot of Savannah but the Riverwalk was nice"
Patrick: "Loved the lush greenery everywhere and the Spanish Moss"
