After our night in the Holiday Inn at Wilmington we drove all the way down to Wrightsville Beach.
The area down at Bald Head Island is known as the Cape Fear region. It is known that many films have been created here but apparently neither of the Cape Fear films!
So time to dip our toes in the sea ....
There are some stunning houses by the sea .....
Well, the sea wasn't turquoise or clear like Bermuda ... in fact it was quite brown :-( gosh we have been spoilt ....
Love the pier ....
All the houses have their own private jetty's at the end of their gardens
After our stroll along the beach it was time to head down to Wilmington for a quick drive through of some of the sights.
WWII Battleship North Carolina
Wilmington's Riverwalk
First Baptist Church
Bellamy Mansion Museum of History and Design
St. James Episcopal Church
In the background the First Presbyterian Church
This was always going to be a short stop over on our way down the East Coast. What was nice was to walk along Wrightsville beach in the sunshine - beautiful coast line.
Neil: "Great pier, nice quite beach and a nice day out."
Patrick: "Sand, sun and fun."
Eleanor: "Lovely pier and shell collecting."
lots of love The Wise Old Owls xxxx
